Seattle University College of Education is pleased to be one of the three universities chosen by the Martinez Foundation as an educational partner. This academic year, four $15,000 scholarships will be awarded to students in the Master of Teaching program and a fifth $15,000 scholarship will be shared between two Special Education and Literacy for Special Needs graduate students.

Distinctive Features of the MIT program:

  • Creating a team taught and planned program delivered in a cohort model over 4 quarters.
  • Providing an MIT degree with the option of a Special Education endorsement.

Distinctive Features of Literacy for Special Needs and Special Education:

  • Sharing courses between these programs and with school counseling and school psychology.
  • Serving experienced teachers who learn to work as teams.
  • Experiencing reading and special education courses, which uniquely qualifies graduates to address the needs of all children but especially those with specialized learning needs.
